My name is Jenna. I am a young Vancouverite who loves to travel, eat incredible food, and create stunning hair accessories! I started originally as an Etsy seller about 3 years ago. I used to make wire wrapped sterling silver earrings and beaded bracelets, and occasionally I would go in craft fairs to sell my jewelry.
But after planning my own wedding I realized that I loved the whole wedding planning process. I ended up making most of my decorations and all of the jewelry my bridesmaids and I wore.
I also made my wedding hair accessory and I had so many compliments on it!! I realized that a lot of brides might be interested in my designs of hair accessories.
For the first year after my wedding I was just passively on Etsy, not making a huge effort. But finally, after Christmas 2016 I decided I needed to start actually launching my hair jewelry line and putting in the effort to get my name out to people.
In January this year I made up a few hair vines, put on my wedding dress again in the snow and did a photoshoot with my friend Sarah, owner of Oak and Antler Photography.
The beaded detail on the bodice of the dress really compliments my hair accessories. I only use Swarovski crystals and freshwater pearls so that brides can have all the bling as they walk down the aisle.
Did I mention it’s a ballgown dress?!? I love my wedding dress!! I was very cold during the photo shoot…. but it was all worth it for these gorgeous photos!
Following the photo shoot I updated all of my listings on Etsy, and then I started to send out free pieces to a few people on Instagram.
I got a few hairstylists who would tag me in their post with these absolutely gorgeous hairstyles.
Then I realized, I should be focusing on bridal hairstylists to carry my hair jewelry line.
I have met so many hairstylists in such a short period of time.
A few in particular have made a significant impact on my hair jewelry line.
The first being Montana’s Bridal Hair. If it wasn’t for Montana, I would still be making just hair vines. But because I met her I now make hair pins, barrettes, hair combs and various hair pieces. She has such attention to detail and is among the best wedding hairstylists in the lower mainland. Montana constantly sends me photos of hair accessories that she likes that she might want to incorporate into one of her hairstyles. I try to recreate the hair pieces and send her my newest and best hair accessories regularly.
Next, I met Maria. Maria actually lives in the same apartment building as me!! So random! She works full time downtown at a salon, and does bridal hair styling throughout the summer months.
After I started to get a few bridal hairstylists to carry my hair accessories I wanted to grow my brand by participating in giveaways! I met Stef, owner of Organic Makeup Artistry who was doing a giveaway for achieving her first 1000 followers on Instagram!
Following the giveaway, she had a bride come to her for her wedding day hair and makeup trial. She was interested in the hair piece I had donated to Stef’s giveaway! Stef decided that she would like to carry our hair jewelry line to offer to her clients.
I absolutely love her hairstyles!
What is truly special about my hair jewelry is that each piece is handmade by me and is one of a kind. I carefully create every hair accessory by individually twisting the pearls and crystals into place. I take the time to make the hair piece as beautiful as possible before shipping it to a client.
It is so rewarding to have people fall in love with my hair jewelry <3
It is incredibly fulfilling to be apart of a wedding day.
